We’ve now finished the 3rd month of our Tale of Four Warlords. This is into the 4th month of our challenge and our wider discord community updates this post is about our progress or lack of it for month 3

Its starting to slow down.

So Month 2 has gone it has been another slow month for some of our warlords this month, Illness, work pressures and real life have hit some of our team hard.

If you remember from the last post, we have just finished the 750 points / 38 power level and now should have completed the 1000 points or 50PL in total. This is a great army level for small games and actually where I find we play most of our games.

Lets find out how our warlords have done!

The Orks had been going great until now! I’ve really struggled this month, I started out fine and got both the Painboy and Boomdakka built and primed and I set to work.

The weather being cold has meant I’ve been unable to get as much painting as I normally do as I paint in the garage and it has been baltic, meaning the airbrush isn’t working as well as normal and the paint is drying funning too. I need to come up with some space heating.

I’ve fallen short of the 1000 points this month which is very frustrating for myself.

That being said I’ve managed to paint the Painboy.

Overall I enjoyed painting him but it took longer than i would have liked 🙂

And my second Boomdakka Snazzwagon, I wanted this one to be different so replace the grot on the front with a Skull and changed the gunner for a Trukk Gunner and the Head of the Driver to fit in with the Gunner.

I also opted to paint the front white and a slightly darker blue to make the unit visually different.

I’ve been managing to keep to my original theme of a mechanised mad-max-esque force.

I have one buggy left to get me to the 1000 points which is built but needs to be painted in full and then I need to add some other bits, may try to do a Trukk and Some Flash Gits / Loota’s

With the larger points values the other warlords are starting to add vehicles to their list, I’m more concerned with my Anti Vehicle ability as this is somewhere traditionally Orks have struggled and I don’t doubt this will bes the same.

750 Points of Orks.

Slow progress for me. Or the inexorable advance of the Deathguard as I like to think of it. The three new characters are painted up.

This brings the army to 750pts of painted.

I’m now painting up my Helbrute and Bloatdrone to take the army upto the 1k point.

Of the 18 models I planned to paint in my psychotic optimism at the end of last month, I painted 1.

My Leman Russ Battle tank has joined the forces and I amended the list to include more of the extra Genestealers I included in month 1 and less of the Aberrants. This takes me up to 1k.

Pretty happy with out it turned out and the army is starting to look a bit more varied and have a bit more desperately needed increased threat range.

This month did not go completely to plan – between work kicking off, and health issues it’s been a struggle to get anything done.

Early on in the month I did knock out the limited edition Sister of Battle, and while strictly speaking not usable in the army as it is currently I am still counting it as a model painted towards the whole!

After that I made a decent start on a Vulture/Valkyre – and while not finished it’s coming along nice.

I’ve used oil washes to make quick progress of the paint work, and the next step is dropping in the metallics and details.

Fingers crossed next month is more productive!

Dawn Blades 10th Company Captain and Eliminators

“I’ve really been enjoying the Tale of More Warlords, giving me a chance to expand my Primaris Marines at a somewhat organised rate and just get involved in a project I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for!
Since about May last year, I’ve been working on my own homebrew Primaris Chapter, the Dawn Blades, and with Shadowspear coming out, I felt it was a great time to get working on the Chapter’s 10th Company. While the initial start of a Lieutenant, Infiltrators, Eliminators and a Librarian (which is easily my favourite Librarian sculpt put out by GW) met with good success in game, something heavy was needed. In comes a Repulsor Executioner, and with it, at chance to create some form of worldbuilding for my homebrew. Why does a “recon” force have a great big grav-tank? In the end, I settled on something inspired by the Eldar Deathweaver formations – where Eldar Rangers act as the eyes and ears for Night Spinner tanks, pinning the enemy with sniper fire as the Night Spinners drop clouds of monofilament netting on them – and thus the False Corona Formation was born: Infiltrator teams marking and drawing the fire of key enemy targets, only for them to be blown away by hidden Repulsor Executioners.

From there, with the release of more Phobos armoured models, my Dawn Blades could expand. Las-fusil Eliminators added some more much needed anti-tank firepower to the list, and a Captain to lead the growing force would be a nice support option. Still sticking with the stealth theme for now, my 4th Month will see some more boots on the ground with the release of new Infiltrator and Incursor kits, as well as an Invictor Tactical Warsuit.”
