We’ve finished the first month of our Tale of Four Warlords. This is the second part of our monthly round-up, covering off the games played and the final points total for this month.
Games Played
Warbringer vs Krakendoomcool
This was a great game, the Black Legion setup to hold their ground against the onslaught of the Death guard. The Black Legion slightly outnumbered tried holding the city block and stopping the Death guard sorcerer from adding more to his warband.
The game was a 6 objective with the major objective being worth 4 VP at the end of turn 5 and the others worth 2 VP and then the minor objective worth only 1.
There was a lot of too and fro and some tactical movement from both side meant that no losses were suffered on turn 1 and 2. Some rules forgotten that meant I didn’t kill the Myphitic Blight-hauler when I had the opportunity and then it decimated my line in the later turns.
Some pesky psychic powers meant I couldn’t finish off the plague marines and then every kill I made in a certain area refreshed the zombie
This did not go to plan from the Black Legion and although the game was hard fought it ended in a victory for Krakendoom. First blood was scored on turn 3 and the game ended up a 10-0 victory. It was very close all the way until turn 5.
Ritual vs Pandora
We randomly generated deployment zones and the mission for our game, which turned out to be No Mercy – all out slaughter.
This was Ritual’s first proper game of Warhammer 40k, so there was a fair bit of talking involved, clarification of rules, and a lot of questions.
Pandora was all set up to take the first turn, but Ritual seized the initiative and made the first of many tactical errors in the battle – moving forward some units to get in range for some psychic abilities. There wasn’t a lot of damage done and Pandora promptly charged his army into the Imperium lines and started the slaughter.
The Genestealers charged into the Wulfen, while the Abarrants headed for the Planetary Defence Force and Psyker down one side, and Greyfax and her crew down the other.
The Planetary Defence Force were evaporated instantly, but the Psyker survived. The Wulfen worked through the Genestealers and used a Stratagem to finish them off by fighting a second time at the end of the combat phase.
Greyfax got slaughtered and her crew fell back.
The Wulfen moved onto the Abarrants and drew them in – saving the Psyker. Down the other side the Abarrants took out the Skitarii Rangers with ease, but bought the Acolytes and Enginseer enough time to start doing some damage to them. Some lucky chainsword rolls later and that crew were able to move in and start finishing off the Xenos threat with the remaining Wulfen.
Overall an absolutely brutal and bloody battle, but a win for Ritual.
