Project Wolfspear: Update 3 – Completed Norse themed Imperial Knight

This week I can show you something finished!

On to the good stuff! Not a huge amount to say this week, so I’ll let pictures do most of the talking.

The second shoulder pauldron here took a really long time and I’m still not 100% happy with it, I stripped and repainted the left hand side of it 5 or 6 times before deciding that I simply wasn’t going to achieve what I had envisioned with my current skills, so I am going to keep practising and on the next one try it again….

Everything on the model is based on Norse culture and mythology in some way, in no particular order we have:

  • Fenrir
  • Odin
  • The Gates of Valhalla
  • Mjolnir
  • Huginn and Muninn
  • A Valknut
  • Jörmungandr

Then as the combo breaker we have a Triquetra, which is more Celtic than Norse, but I am taking the artistic license here.

One of the future updates of Project Wolfspear will cover off some of the lore of how this all fits in with the overall project, but I have to get over one stumbling block first – and that is that she needs a name. Maybe some kind of poll could decide what to call her? Suggestions on a postcard…

I am also submitting this for Azazel’s Jewel of July… I pulled some long hours to get this finished early in the month, my original deadline was July 29th, so now I get a whole month to crack on with the Tale of Four Warlords.

  2. Wow… Mate, she is an absolute beauty… All that free-hand and symbology really do make this stand out, and it is all so well executed! Lovely stuff dude, congratulations

  3. Very cool to follow this man. Love the designs and execution of them and how with the muted grey and lack of really high contrast it’s detailed without looking mentally busy. Very cool just to examine… Kind of like a tapestry. Any plans for more knights?

  9. My word, that’s impressive! There’s so much great freehand that it’s tough to pick a favorite piece. The big eye, the wolf’s head on the shoulderpad and the “stairway to heaven” are all standouts to me!
